MOSCOW, Feb ā28 (Reuters) - Russian state nuclear corporation āRosatom has evacuated nearly 100 people from Iran, ā but its personnel remain at the Bushehr nuclear power plant, the company said āon Saturday, citing CEO Alexei Likhachev.
The United States āand Israel launched strikes on Iran on Saturday, targeting its leadership and plunging the ā Middle East into a new ā conflict.
Rosatom said it had evacuated all employees' children, as well as "non-essential staff" and anyone who wished to leave the country - āa total of 94 people.
"We are constantly ā monitoring the situation and āassessing the risks. If ānecessary, additional measures will be taken in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign āAffairs to ensure the safety āof our ā employees," Likhachev said.
He did not provide ādetails on the situation ā at Bushehr but said that nuclear facilities "should not be targeted under any circumstances."
