Lula narrowly ahead of Flavio Bolsonaro in potential Brazilian runoff, poll shows

SAO PAULO, April ‌14 (Reuters) - Brazil's leftist President Luiz ​Inacio Lula da Silva is narrowly ahead of right-wing ⁠Senator Flavio Bolsonaro in a potential runoff in the October presidential election, a CNT/MDA poll ​showed on Tuesday.

* The survey showed Lula with 44.9% of ‌the votes in arunoff, compared with 40.2% for Flavio Bolsonaro, the son offar-right former President Jair ⁠Bolsonaro. * In a first‑round poll in ⁠which respondents were asked whothey would vote for if the election were held today, Lula was at28.7% support versus 16.6% for Flavio ‌Bolsonaro. * The CNT/MDA poll contrasts with several recent ⁠surveysthat have shown the two ‌candidates statistically tied in ​arunoff. * Recent polling shows Lula's earlier lead is narrowing,with Flavio Bolsonaro gaining support after receiving publicbacking ‌from his father, who is under ​house arrest. * Over ⁠the weekend, a Datafolha poll showed ‌the youngerBolsonaro with 46% ⁠of the vote in a runoff, compared with 45%for Lula. * CNT/MDA interviewed 2,002 people from April ​8-12 in 140Brazilian ‌municipalities. The survey's margin of error is 2.2percentage ⁠points in either ​direction.
