Mexico’s Sheinbaum taps new agriculture minister

MEXICO ‌CITY, May ​1 (Reuters) - Mexican President Claudia ⁠Sheinbaum has tapped agronomist Columba ​Jasmin Lopez to ‌be the country's next minister of ⁠agriculture and ⁠rural development, replacing current minister Julio Berdegue, her ‌government said on ⁠Friday.

"Her ‌appointment represents ​the arrival of the first ‌woman to ​lead ⁠Mexican agricultural policy," the ‌agriculture ⁠ministry said in a statement.
