Mexican senate approves amendment so elections can be annulled for foreign interference

MEXICO ‌CITY, May 29 (Reuters) - ​Mexico's Senate on ⁠Friday approved a constitutional amendment ​to include "foreign interference" ‌as a reason to annul elections in ⁠the ⁠country.

On Thursday, the lower house backed the amendment, ‌which challenges an ⁠article of ‌the constitution ​and defines foreign interference as "illicit ‌financing, propaganda, ​the ⁠systematic dissemination of ‌misinformation, ⁠digital manipulation, and the intervention of foreign ​governments ‌or agencies."
