WASHINGTON, June ā2 (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary āof State Marco Rubio told ā lawmakers on Tuesday that the Trump administration does ānot want to force Afghans ācurrently stranded in Qatar to return to Afghanistan and ā has spoken with ā at least five countries who are open to receiving them.
More than 1,100 āpeople have been held at ā the former āU.S. Army base āCamp As Sayliyah (CAS) since at least early last āyear, when Republican āPresident Donald ā Trump's administrationĀ halted resettlement for āAfghans who ā feared retribution from Taliban authorities for their links to āthe U.S. āmilitary.
