TAIPEI, ‌June 4 (Reuters) - China ​should "acknowledge the truth" about ⁠what happened 37 years ago on Beijing's ​Tiananmen Square, Taiwan ‌President Lai Ching-te said on Thursday on the ⁠anniversary of ⁠an event Beijing treats as taboo.

"I sincerely hope that ‌China can face up ⁠to the ‌June 4 ​incident of 37 years ago, acknowledge the ‌truth, soothe ​the ⁠pain, and open the ‌door ⁠to reconciliation and dialogue," Lai said in a ​post ‌on his Facebook page.
