UN’s GuterresĀ calls for return to U.S.-Iran ceasefire

-

June 11 (Reuters) - ā€ŒU.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is "deeply concerned" by the continued escalation in the Middle East, including strikes by the United States on Iran ā€Œand Iranian strikes on its neighbors, a U.N. spokesperson said in a statement on Thursday.Ā

"He urges the parties to return to the full implementation of ā€Œthe ceasefire and avoid any further deterioration, which, ā€Œas he told the Security Council yesterday, could trigger a full ā€Œresumption of the conflict, with unpredictable consequences for the ā€Œregion and the world, especially the most vulnerable countries," the spokesperson said.
