EU leaders agree to renew Russia sanctions for 12 months

BRUSSELS, ‌June 18 (Reuters) - European ​Union leaders agreed ⁠on Thursday to renew sanctions against Russia ​over its war ‌against Ukraine for another 12 months, a ⁠spokesperson for ⁠the chair of the meeting  said.

Thursday's decision at a ‌summit in Brussels ⁠marked the ‌first time ​such sanctions - which target certain sectors ‌of the Russian ​economy - ⁠have been renewed ‌for a ⁠year. They had previously been rolled over ​every ‌six months.
