ICC calls US sanctions ‘flagrant attack’ against court’s independence

    -

AMSTERDAM, Dec 18 (Reuters) - The International Criminal Court (ICC) said on Thursday that U.S. sanctions against two ‍of its judges over its case involving Israel were a "flagrant attack" on the court’s independence.

"Such measures targeting judges and prosecutors who were elected by ‌the States Parties undermine ‌the rule of law. When judicial actors are threatened for applying ‌the law, it is the international legal ‌order itself that is placed at risk," the court said.
