India says safe, unimpeded maritime flows vital for global economic well-being

NEW DELHI, ‌May 14 (Reuters) - Indian ​Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar ⁠said on Thursday that "safe, unimpeded maritime flows" through ​international waters, including the ‌Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea, are vital ⁠for global ⁠economic well-being.

"We must also address the increasing resort to unilateral coercive ‌measures and sanctions inconsistent with ⁠international law ‌and the ​UN Charter," Jaishankar said in his speech at ‌the meeting of ​BRICS ⁠foreign ministers in New ‌Delhi.

BRICS includes ⁠Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Ethiopia, Egypt, ​Iran, the ‌United Arab Emirates and ⁠Indonesia.
