MADRID, March ā26 (Reuters) - Spanish Prime Minister Pedro āSanchez named Arcadi EspaƱa as Spain's new budget ā minister on Thursday and promoted Economy Minister Carlos Cuerpo to deputy prime minister āas part of a reshuffle of his ācabinet.
Arcadi EspaƱa replaces Maria Jesus Montero, who stepped down to lead the Socialist Party's ā campaign in upcoming regional elections ā in Andalusia.
EspaƱa previously served as secretary of state for territorial policy and will take charge of Spain's budget policy āat a time when the government ā is negotiating with regional governments āover a new model āfor funding and has yet to submit a national budget for 2026.
Cuerpo, āwho will continue in his ārole as economy ā minister, will become the first āman Sanchez has named ā as a deputy prime minister since taking power in 2018, when he formed āthe first government āwith gender parity in Spanish history.
