Japan considers inviting Philippines President Marcos for state visit next month, Nikkei reports

April ‌22 (Reuters) - The Japanese ​government is in ⁠talks to invite Philippine President Ferdinand ​Marcos Jr. to ‌Japan as a state guest as early ⁠as next ⁠month, Nikkei Asia reported on Wednesday.

Marcos is expected ‌to meet with ⁠Japanese Prime ‌Minister Sanae ​Takaichi to "confirm cooperation toward realizing a ‌free and ​open ⁠Indo-Pacific and to ‌coordinate ⁠responses to China's maritime expansion", the media ​outlet added.
