Lithuania to increase security at critical infrastructure, prime minister says

VILNIUS, Oct ‌19 (Reuters) - Lithuania will boost the security around critical infrastructure sites, its prime minister said on Monday, following an attempted arson attack on a Starlink base station ‌on the outskirts of Vilnius that authorities said was sabotage linked to Russia.

Lithuanian government and security officials met to discuss the situation following a suspected drone explosion and Sunday's Starlink incident ‌amid concerns in the region that the war ‌in Ukraine is spilling across NATO's northern borders.

"We agreed to increase the level of ‌preparedness at critical infrastructure objects which are important to the country... ‌we will devote a larger number of forces and more attention to the objects," Prime ‌Minister Mindaugas Sinkevicius said on Monday.
