South Korea to expand drone forces, train 500,000 operators, ministry says

SEOUL, ‌June 26 (Reuters) - South ​Korea will rapidly ⁠expand its drone and counter-drone capabilities, ​including by training ‌500,000 "drone warriors" and acquiring more than 20,000 ⁠low-cost ⁠expendable drones, the Defence Ministry said on Friday.

The ‌military also plans to ⁠produce ‌110,000 drones ​in the period to 2029 for ‌distribution across ​units, ⁠as part of a ‌broader ⁠push to strengthen unmanned capabilities and ​counter North ‌Korea, it said.
